neil barr, ba (hons) fine art - managing director
Neil is the owner and founder of Alienation Design. Having trained in the arts (Grays School of Art and LSU, Baton Rouge) but with a strong interest in IT, Neil rose to the position of Web/IT Manager at Newstel Information before leaving to set up Alienation in 1997. Initially designing and programming on his own, he quickly grew the company, taking on well known clients such as Melville Craig, Forrest Furnishing and Swiss Telecom (Swisscom). Neil is responsible for the quality of the company’s creative output and is also a highly competent programmer - infamous for his insistence on attention to detail.
ken beattie, pgd marketing - non exec director
Appointed by Alienation in April 2002. With a background as a leading salesman at Hewlett Packard for six years, Ken co-founded Initiative Software Ltd in 1990 and its US subsidiary Syntelate Corp. As CEO, he was responsible for overall Company growth and sales strategy which resulted in Initiative being the UK’s leading supplier of CRM software to government agencies involved in economic development in the UK. He currently holds a number of non-executive positions in the Scottish business IT sector. Ken has an honours degree in Economics and postgraduate diploma in Marketing.
martin bryce, hnd photography - project manager
Martin joined us having 7 years experience as a senior Customer Relations Team Manager at ScottishPower. As a published photographer, Martin worked mainly on a freelance basis preceeding this. His management experience ensures all projects are delivered on time and on budget. Having worked on projects such as the A77 Safety Group for The Scottish Executive and Amey Infrastructure, Martin is a key member of the team and the main point of contact for all clients.
john storey BSc (Hons), Mphil - web manager
John joined Alienation Design with over 10 years experience in developing web applications. Having worked for Marconi, then as an independent consultant for the likes of Shell and Texaco (including starting his own successful development and design business along the way), John's experience is put to great use on projects such as Ignite for Scripture Union and custom development for St Andrews Ambulance Association. John is well versed in ColdFusion, PHP, Perl, JavaScript and 3D modelling.
aidan martin, BSc (hons) applied graphics technology with multimedia - senior designer
Aidan's fantastic creative skills are put to good use at Alienation Design. Having received the BT Broadband Award for Internet Innovation: Best Student in Internet Communications and Web Development, Aidan brings a fresh perspective to the design process at Alienation on projects such as Lauder College, Coatbridge College and Young Audiences Scotland. Aidan is experienced in designing to accessibility standards, compliant CSS and Flash.
stewart young, hnc computing, hnc marketing - business development manager & account manager
Stewart, along with the Alienation board, is responsible for driving the growth and direction of the business. Experienced in web design, running his own successful ecommerce business and being a qualified trainer makes Stewart an excellent addition to the Alienation team. Stewart has worked as a consultant for organisations such as SKY, DANKA, Vodafone and Scottish Power.
adeel hanif, masters advanced computing science - web developer
Adeel has worked on many high profile projects including Alienation Fort for Fife Council. Experienced in .Net, Java and SQL, Adeel gained his first Masters at the Punjab Institute of Computer Science in Pakistan, before working for a number of high profile businesses as a software developer.
anthony mcpeake, msc multimedia communications - web developer
Following on from his experience of working for Rangers Football Club and the Scottish Qualifications Authority on number of development projects, Anthony joined Alienation and was thrust in to projects such as acevo, Scripture Union and the Scottish Institute for Enterprise.
